The first heritage hotel of India, the Ajit Bhawan is the gemstone of the desert city of Jodhpur. The palace was built for Maharaja Ajit Singhji, the brother of Maharaja Umaid Singhji of the previous Jodhpur state. The late Maharaja's family still lives within the premises of Ajit Bhawan, but have opened the doors to receive guests.
